There are different methods depending on your technical environment. The main issue is to allow simple file transfers without decreasing the quality / resolution of your videos.

Indeed, when you transfer video files via classic messaging applications (such as Whatsapp or Facebook messenger), it can happen that your videos are automatically compressed and lose resolution...

We will deal with the following situations:

  • 1. iOS mobile devices to iOS

  • 2. iOS mobile devices to / from Mac computers

  • 3. Android mobile devices to Android

  • 4. iOS mobile devices to Android mobile devices (and vice versa)

1. iOS mobile devices to iOS

2. iOS mobile devices to / from Mac computers

The fastest and most efficient method is to use the AirDrop sharing feature, included in all Apple mobile devices as well as Mac computers.

  • In the feature search ("Settings" > "Search") or by swiping up on your phone/tablet, search for the "AirDrop" feature.

  • In the settings for this feature (accessible directly from the Settings menu or accessible by long-pressing the AirDrop icon from the swipe up option), make sure you are "visible to all" on both devices from and to which you want to share the file.

• Select the file you want to share, open the sharing options and choose the "AirDrop" option. You will then have access to all devices that are "visible to all". Choose the destination device.

It is also possible to upload/download your files to an online storage space with Google Drive or Dropbox :

  • advantages: you create a backup of your files in the cloud.

  • disadvantages: the upload-to/download-from-to-the-cloud steps require you to have a good internet speed. The operation can be 10 to 100 times longer than if you do a direct transfer by AirDrop...

  • risk: when your files are on Google Drive or Dropbox, be careful when renaming them. Do not remove the extensions (.mp4, .mov, etc.) from your files.

3. Android mobile devices to Android

4. iOS mobile devices to Android mobile devices (and vice versa)

To share files from/to Android devices, there are no shortcut mode features available like on Apple products.

To do this, we recommend that you install a free application called "AirMore".

This application also works to transfer files between iPhones/iPad and Android devices.

  • Go to the Application Stores and install AirMore on the mobile devices from/to which you want to transfer video files.

  • Launch AirMore on both devices.

  • On each of the two devices, go to the "More" sub-menu at the bottom right.

  • Then go to the "Other tools" section and choose the "Phone transfer" option.

  • You should then see both of your mobile devices on the drawn radar screen. Warning: both mobile devices must be connected to the same wifi network to be visible to each other.

  • On the emitting phone, select the receiving device and choose the files you want to transfer.

  • On the receiving phone, you will receive a notification in AirMore when the transfer is finalized.

As before, it is also possible to upload/download your files to an online storage space with Google Drive or Dropbox. Here we recall you the advantages, disadvantages and risks of these options:

  • advantages: you create a backup of your files in the cloud.

  • disadvantages: the upload-to/download-from-to-the-cloud steps require you to have a good internet speed. The operation can be 10 to 100 times longer than if you do a direct transfer by AirMore...

  • risk: when your files are on Google Drive or Dropbox, be careful when renaming them. Do not remove the extensions (.mp4, .mov, etc.) from your files.
